    Default Changing the Person Named on Utility Bills for a Rental

    My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Massachusetts I ask the landlord if I could change the name of the bill to my name because the bill is under his mother's name who has passed a couple of months ago but he won't let me change them am I responsible for paying the bills on his mother's name that he won't let me change

    Why do you want the bills to be in your name?

    While it's fair to expect that the utility company would want the bills transferred to a living person if it were aware of the issue, is there a reason that you want the bills in your name as opposed to (for example) your landlord's?
