Default What is the Statute of Limitations on Medical Debts

In Virginia, what is the statute of limitations on medical debt? The debts are more than five years old. They appear on the patient's credit report, but the collection agencies identified on the credit report indicate that they are no longer collecting that account.

Default Re: What is the Statute of Limitations on Medical Debts

The statute of limitations for a medical debt in Virginia is five years (written contracts). The debts should drop off of the debtor's credit report seven years after default.

The collection agencies likely no longer have active accounts for the debt due to its age.
