Default Making False Claims on Discharge Paperwork

A servicemember wanted to get out of the Marines, so he faked a suicide attempt and blamed it on a divorce and bitter custody battle. However there was no divorce case and no custody battle. He got an involuntary discharge with medical benefits.

What will happen if the military finds out that he lied?

Default Re: Making False Claims on Discharge Paperwork

If his misrepresentations are reported, investigated and found to be false, he can potentially be criminally prosecuted under the UCMJ and could lose his benefits. The process that the Marines might follow could include prosecution through federal law enforcement, or calling him back into active duty for military prosecution.
