If a child is in foster care and will be 18 before the end of this year and has chosen to remain in foster care for an extra year to finish the last year of high school;due to being held back a year in school, making him 19 (3 months short of 20) when he gets out of foster care. does the child support end at 18 or will it continue until the child moves out of foster care ? The child is a ward of the State of Indiana at this time. All child support payments are being made to Aid For Dependent Children(by court order of course) through the courthouse. Can I make it stop when the child turns 18 since he is considered to be an adult at that time? The support that I am paying is seriously depriving other siblings of basic needs like clothing, shoes, ect. Although, it has been worth it to protect the siblings as well as myself from this child, but it is really putting a strain on our household. Is there anything we can do? How may we go about doing it? Any suggestions?
