    Default Plea Bargaining

I received a ticket for driving 87 in a 65 mph zone on rt 80 in NJ and would like, if possible, to contact my prosecutor and see if he'll accept a plea bargain. I would like to do this on my own, without a lawyer. If the prosecutor says 'no' then I'll look into getting a lawyer.

I drive for a living- if I get points I will lose my job. I'm hoping to plea bargain the ticket into a non point violation with a heavier fine.

Can I contact the prosecutor, and, if so, is there any special protocol I need to follow?

No, I'm not. I deliver food for a supermarket.

I think that NJ has an option where you pay an extra 250 and the ticket does not have any points. Ask the clerk.
