My question involves criminal law for the state of: Massachusetts
Let me give you guys a little bit information of myself and my boyfriend. I am a senior college student , green card holder and have no criminal record ,and my ex boyfriend is 5 years older than me, unemployed and had multi criminal record such as assault with dangerous weapons , armed robbery and history of drug abuse. My ex-boyfriend and I had an argument last month. I was trying to break up with him and he got soooo mad. He didn't allow me to leave my apartment and hided my phone so I cannot call the police. I slapped him couple times and told him that I want to killed myself.
He went to the kitchen and handed me a knife and encourage me to do that .I was so scared and mad so I cut my arm . He took me to the hospital and the hospital kept me in a psychiatric unit for 5 days and prescribe me with antidepressant. Once i got out of the hospital , I went to the university police and asked about information of a restricting order. I told the police what happened and they seems pretty concern about my safety especially knowing that he had a lot of criminal record. They tried to convince me to put criminal chargers on him and issued a trespassing order on him so he couldn't come near campus area. Anyway , me and my family decided not to file any chargers against him. Couples weeks after, my aunt received a text from him.
He said that he is mad that he received the trespassing notices from the university police and I need to write an letter to the chief of the police department to cancel the trespassing order or else he will make me loose my green card. He said he has video recording of me slapping him and threatening to hurt my family. I went to the police station again and the detective told me that it is intimidating and the university police will go ahead and file chargers on him because he was using the trespassing order to intimidate me.
My concern is that he will use the recording of me slapping him and saying that I wanna hurt his family as an evidence to against me. I don't wanna loose my green card and my college degree. what do you guys think?
