Default Re: Can You Be Required to Pay Rent to Stay in a Bedroom in a Parent's Home

Hi again my mother is 86 or 87. Just to update you guys I talked to an attorney on the phone today for advice. He said the costs are as follows
    1200.00 Lawyer fees
295.00 Court fees (may be waived)
If I lose I would still have housing costs to plan on. First, last and deposit. If I win I get to see if he will try to evict again, can he try it again? If he can try to evict again why would I try to fight this case???? Lawyeralso said if I just move it all goes away, is this true?????

Eventually your mother will be successful in evicting you. I would suggest not fighting this and use the money you would have spent in securing housing elsewhere.

Yes realised that real quick thinking how a lawyer can ask for tons of money on an eviction case. I managed to secure a place to stay. Thanks all

" Its really all up to you, if you have super deep pockets then you can try to fight it and even if you win its likely he can and will start from scratch and make sure there are no mistakes and do it all over again. If you can swing it , even renting a room from a friend could be better than dealing with the fall out of the mess you have now, BUT if you do move out stay on top of whats going on with your mom and if it appears she is being taken advantage of or financially abused especially if she fits your states legal description of a at risk older person- vulnerable adult then to make reports to the proper authorities."

Yes I will and as far as I know they may already be involved.

    Thanks again
