    Default Will Your Court Date be Changed if You Request a Different Lawyer

    My question involves criminal law for the state of: Georgia

    My Friend is in jail for a felony possession of amphetamines charge and has been denied bail because she is on probation in another county. She has been in jail for 8 weeks now and her court appointed lawyer has missed 2 court dates. The next court date is set for a week from and we don't expect him to make it either.

    If we request a new court appointed lawyer, will her court date be changed again causing her to sit in jail even longer?

    "We" don't request anything. You are not involved.

    If she requests new counsel everything else would be up to the court. No one here can predict what will happen.
