Default Should a Subcontractor Get a Contract Directly With the Homeowner

My question involves business law in the state of: Connecticut

We were recently just hired to install a fence on a residential home. The person who actually hired us and is going to pay for the work is not the owner of the home. It is his family members and he is paying for the work. My question is, do I still write the contract out to the person who hired me even though he does not own the house? Or do I need the actual owners info and signature? Just trying to avoid any potential issues. Thank you.

To be safe I would get permission and responsibility to pay from all of them.

Get some money up front, too.

I agree with both of the previous suggestions, however keep in mind that either the relative who intends to pay or the actual homeowner may not be willing for the homeowner to be part of the contract. They should be willing to put up a normal deposit on the project. You may have to choose between getting the job or being extra safe by having them both on the contract.

Draw up two contracts. One that stipulates finances and the other for the land owner which grants permission to work and build on their property.
