My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Maryland.
We are renting a historic single family home and just found out that the landlord is fixing up a historic building on the property to rent out. It is clearly on the property we rent in entirety and she has never mentioned this or asked us. She has been having people repair it and plans to rent it out very soon we learned. I sent her a message about it and she won't reply to us.
I am disabled and home alone often with our son who has special needs. Our son plays in the yard with his friends, we rented this home for its privacy and safety and are very upset that a stranger will be living here on the property and sharing well water and electric. We were never told this could be a possibility and the little cottage/shack is definitely on this property although she has affixed a different address to it (it's not a real address we checked). We feel blindsided by this and it isn't practical to move at all. Can she do this? What steps can we take to fight this?
