My expectation is that in adult, official matters, being polite, properly attired and respectful does more to keep things from going downhill rather than substantially improving the outcome. As LegalWriter points out, there are a variety of outcomes from being found guilty and your respectful attitude alone will be unlikely to avoid all of that. It may figure into which and how many of the above outcomes you will have to live with though. If convicted, you will likely be labeled a criminal drug user for the rest of your life which can affect support for college and private and government employment down the road. Also, if convicted, if you are asked about criminal history for employment applications, tell the truth. You can bet they will find out the truth and lying about it is worse than the crime. You need a lawyer ASAP to work on your behalf to avoid the conviction.
