If your roommate attacks you or destroys your property, you can call the police. If you want them to take some action, you have two options. One, you can ask that they take a report for vandalism (a misdemeanor offense) and they may submit it to the DA for prosecution. Or, two, you can request a private person's arrest (aka a "citizen's arrest"). In the first case, the DA MAY choose to file against the roommate, or, they may not. It depends on the circumstances and the county you are in. Low level property offenses are not a high priority. In the second case, the police have three options. One, they determine there is no probable cause for the arrest and decline to accept it, Two, they accept the arrest and issue her a citation for the offense (a ticket - and she may well remain on scene). Or,three, they book her into the jail where she will likely be released on a citation within a couple of hours. In either case (filing with the DA or cite/arrest) the DA may choose not to file given the circs and the low priority of the offense. But, the action may ring some sense into her noggin.

You are also free to sue her for any damages to your property. ACTUAL damages. Since this would likely be in Small Claims Court, you would control the action.
