My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Georgia

If one's home is condemned by the board of health of unsanitary conditions, does the governmnet compensate you for the value of the home? And how much? I'm assuming the value of the house after it has been "trashed" by the unsanitary conditions rather than the original value? And how bad does it have to be in order for the house to be condemned? Furthermore, is it public record when a place gets condemned? Would it show up on a background check if a future landlord were to do one? Since, I would imagine that landlords wouldn't want to have someone as a tenant who recently had their house condemned for being a "health hazard"?

Interestingly, there was an apartment building that my friend lived in (and I spent plenty of time there) that was condemned for rodent problems. However, I was quite surprised. It honestly didn't seem that bad. There were mice from time to time in the walls and such, but it was nowhere near the worst of the worst or anything. But perhaps, the bar is higher for an apartment building than it is for a private residence?
