I live in Illinois.

I filled out the paperwork for FMLA intermittent leave. I have migraines and cannot work even after taking the Zomig. I have a seizure disorder and take medication for that as well as medication for allergies. The 2 daily meds make me tired and the zomig on top of it knocks me out.

Today my manager told me that I need to bring in a doctor's note everytime I use the intermittent leave. I do not understand why I have to miss a day of work AND pay a doctor to see me so that he can fill out a note stating that I really had a migraine. I offered to come to work the next time I have one so that they can see why I am on intermittent leave. She said no, she just wants a doctor's note every time.

Can she do this?

Can I file for ADA and ask for them to accomodate me by not firing me when I have a migraine? Then I wouldn't have to get a doctor's note each time.

Having migraines is not my idea of fun. I would rather be at work or enjoying my weekend than sitting in a drugged stupor or crawling under a blanket to hide from the light. The last thing I need is to lose my job over this.
