Pennsylvania here.
Had a minor fender bender in a parking lot tonight. I was driving through the lot to reach a restaurant when I heard a horn. I couldn’t tell right away when the horn came from so I pressed the brake to slow down.
Right away I saw headlights in my left mirror and felt my car get hit from behind.
I was unaware of this at the time, but someone tried to pass me on the left, planning to cut around me, which is where the horn came from. When I braked, they were following so closely and quickly that they hit me.
We were sort of in the traffic flow so I moved about 100 feet away and waited for her. She rolled down her window and started yelling at me that I tried to flee the scene and I cut her off. (I personally think I didn’t know she was there cause she was so close behind me that I couldn’t see headlights in my mirrors).
I offered her my insurance card and she refused it, and took pictures of my license plate from her car. She said something like, “you’re in it now, kid!!” I offered to call the police and she said that’s not needed.
I said, so what’s your plan? She said, I dunno... I guess we’ll see if I’m a better person than you... and then she drove off.
Do I have any real liabilities here? Should I call and report this to police at this point, or is that just opening a can of worms? It was almost an hour ago and she’s long gone.
My car has zero damage and hers had some paint scuffing on the front bumper. What she said is making me nervous, though.
