Lightbulb Can a Minor Claim Independence and Move Out of the Family's Home

I'm 16 years old, and I live in Ohio. I'm just wondering if it's possible that I can claim independence from my family, and move out and live on my own. For the past couple years, my family has put tremendous amounts of stress on me, and it's seems like it effects me. They might be my family, but in all honesty, they seem to be the most toxic people in my life, and I just want to get better mentally, and not have to be put into a mental hospital and/or the JDC. No, I don't really have anywhere to go yet, but I figured I could just live in my car, and I've been told that's not a great idea, but I need to get away from my family. Thanks to anyone that can answer my question. :)

There is no law in OH allowing a minor to seek emancipation.

You won't like the answer. Emancipation is not a process to "free" you from your family. If you are being abused, you can talk to a school counselor, a teacher or your religious leader about what's going on and they will contact the authorities.

To top it all off, Ohio does not have a statute in place for the emancipation of minors.

In NO state does a 16 year old have the right to move out of the house without parental permission. In EVERY state until you are at least 18 (and in some states 19 - in Ohio it is 18) you live where your parents say you live. The ONLY way you are legally leaving home without the permission of your parents is if you are removed from the home by the state. In which case you will live where the state says you live - a group home or foster care.
