Default Warrants in Virginia for Drugs and Probation Violation

I'm in need of legitimate info about whether or not I am able to get a normal standard ID card from the West Virginia dmv even tho I have open felony warrants in Virginia. The warrants have been open for a couple years already and I've stayed out of trouble but now am required to have a valid ID to get the job I'm being offered. They don't care about the old warrants on my record but require the ID in order to hire me. But I'm terrified that if I go into the dmv that they will pull up my warrants and have me arrested. HELP!!! PLEASE!!!

It is not typical for a DMV to run a criminal records check when somebody applies for a state ID card, nor are DMVs normally in a position to effect an arrest on a warrant (although some offices in some states do have law enforcement officers on the premises).

Though the fact that you did get an ID in WV may tip off the Virginia authorities to where you are. It's a small effort to have you picked up and a short road trip for a cop or someone with the commonwealth's attorney to come get you.

It's a state ID card and not a driver's license, so there would be no reason to contact another state about a past license or ID.

Even if it were a driver's license, I am not aware of any case in which a driver's license check from one state's DMV to another triggered a warrant search, let alone one that resulted in arrest and extradition.

As they say, anything's possible, but that seems like quite a stretch.
