Default Credit Card Fraud and Forgery

I had gotten a credit card in my name and put my mother-in-law on it as a user. While in her procession, her son (my brother-in-law) used the credit card in the amount of approximately $12,000 and forged her signature. This happened a few years ago and since I was able to have the charge removed from my credit card, I did not pursue prosecution; I am having second thoughts and want to know what the statue of limitations is for his crime. Can I still pursue prosecution in the state of Michigan? What is the charge? Forgery? Credit card fraud?

The police and prosecutor would determine what to charge.

Was a police report made at the time? If not, I suspect that you'll have a hard time making one years after-the-fact. If so, I suspect you'll have a hard time convincing the prosecutor to reopen a case despite your having asked that no charges be filed. (Not that I want to sound negative.)

Your post is vague on the time.

So, the answer is: Ask the prosecutor in the county where it happened.
