Default What are the Odds of Shoplifting Charges if You Set Off an Alarm While Leaving

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California

I have developed a problem with shoplifting compulsively. I set off an alarm leaving a grocery store with a few concealed items. My car is new and has no plates but I checked out for most of what I was leaving with using my credit card and club card. Love followed to parking lot observed my leaving but did not approach. I'm not sure but assume they went back and reviewed tape. What are the odds I will get a knock at the door? I already know I need help and will get it I just want to know how worried to be. I have shoplifted there in the past without suspicion and wonder if they would review numerous tapes etc.

If they suspect you have stole all they need to do is look at the checkout logs for your card information. What makes you think they haven't previously suspected you? Many times stores keep an eye on people they've seen before and suspect are thieves.

You don't know if you're going to get charged until it happens. All you can do is wait.

    1. STOP STEALING.
2 Stay out of the stores you perviously stole from.
    3. STOP STEALING.
    4. If the police come to you, decline to speak to them without an attorney.
    5. STOP STEALING.
    6. If you're arrested or charged, contact an attorney.
    7. STOP STEALING
    8. Get psychiatric help.
    9. STOP STEALING.

Seeing this is some club that requires membership (Sams or Costco maybe?), it is fairly simple for them to identify you. Prosecution would be virtually impossible unless they can show you hiding merchandise on camera (have you ever heard my story of being inside a Walmart security area where they had a couple hundred dvr’s, each one connected to a different camera) BUT it is quite possible you will have your membership terminated and probably banned from all of their stores for life.

Good luck and get help of your statement is honest.

Btw: since most car dealerships plaster their name on the back of cars they sell (mine came with an ugly sticker on the car and a license plate frame identifying the dealership), how hard do you think it would be to figure out who purchased whatever make, model, and color car at whatever dealer in the last 90 days? I could probably find out who you are with that info by walking into the dealership and hold out my turned off phone and say: she dropped this phone but I saw she recently bought a car from here. Can you provide her name so I can get it back to her?

I suspect it's actually just a regular grocer the "club card" is just something you show/scan at the register to open up discounts (and allow the store to track your shopping behavior).
