If you could provide us with the State in which you are seeking the expungement that would be helpful.
Generally, an expungement means the record is sealed from public view and access. Many jurisidictions with expungement laws provide that when your record is expunged you may lawfully state in an employment application that you have never been arrested/convicted of that offense. You should be aware that for some jobs a prospective employer may able to access an expunged record--usually jobs in law enforcement, daycares, etc., usually state-by-state. An expunged record will normally be noted on law enforcement databases such as NCIC--but access to such databases is restricted.
