    Default Change of Childs Name

In the state of Florida, correct me if I'm wrong, you have to have the biological father's signature to change a child's last name..correct? There wouldn't be any way to change it without that, correct?

You're divorced? Convince the custody court that the name change is in the child's best interest.

No, this isn't for me. The mother and father were never married, and he signed the birth certificate.

The mother would still have to convince the Judge that the name change is in the childs best interest. How old is the child?
What are the reasons for wanting to change the name?
