My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Maine
I am 15, turning 16 in a few weeks. I am seeking emancipation sometime around the end of 2018, when I would only be months away from 17. I understand emancipation is fairly hard to be granted, so that is why I ask my likeliness. I am only a sophomore in high school, but I only need 3.5 more required credits to get my diploma. My wish was to graduate high school early and go back to Texas, were I was recently uprooted from. I am a great student and already have scholarships. Ive been forced to grow up fast than many kids my age, and I dont say that to be that kid, but Ive been told by multiple adults. I want to be a botanist and I already have 15 college credits, Im a very determined person and Im very independent. I manage my money well, I worked harvest and earned money, with which I paid in total for my own drivers ed. I also pay my own phone bill, which I know is nothimg compared to what bills I will have to pay for in the future, but Ive never been one to blow off responsibilites. I do not have a job right now, because it is fairly hard to get a job here without being 16, but my guidance counselor is helping me with references. I would most definitely have a place to live, with a close family friend, and as soon as I start college, I would live on campus. I feel my town holds me back from things that I could achieve and though I didnt get into any detail about my emotional state, but that is not why I seek emancipation. It id bard dealing with what I am, but I want emancipation not for my past, but for my future, to be a functioning member of society. I wanted to get my high school diploma before I filed, but that is not an option for me because of my school guidelines and my mother will not allow me to finish them online. I have done extensive research on ways I can finish my high school credits, but that is only an option with emancipation. Thank you for spending time to read this.
