Default Do I Need A "Duly Licensed Attorney of the State of Bar of Texas"?

I was charged with Felony/Misdemeanor because of shoplifting. In the Bail Bond paper, it says "First appearance........ YOUR ATTORNEY SHOULD BE PRESENT WITH YOU ON THIS DATE......". Does the attorney have to be board certified by the State Bar of Texas? Please help.

If you are retaining a lawyer to represent you in a Texas court, the lawyer must be admitted to practice law in Texas.

I think the lawyer I have is probably not a State Board Certified lawyer. But as his office is in Texas, he must be able to practice in State of Texas. Should I ask him if he can be present with me in the court?

You might ask him if he has sought to be admitted pro hac vice--essentially go through the process of being admitted under the supervision of an attorney licensed in Texas.
