(b) A person who drives a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than 100 miles per hour is guilty of an infraction punishable, as follows:
(1) Upon a first conviction of a violation of this subdivision, by a fine of not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500). The court may also suspend the privilege of the person to operate a motor vehicle for a period not to exceed 30 days pursuant to Section 13200.5 .
Were you over 100MPH? In that case the fine is $900 with all the surcharges, two points, and a mandatory court appearance (and possibly a 30 day suspension) as it says above.
If 100 or less, it's $490 and one point.
I was going over 45 miles the speed limit. I don’t know what I was thinking but i learned my lesson big time now I’m driving safer then ever
The fine is rather steep ($900), but wait until you see what happens to your insurance premiums.
Since you ask about the "worst" thing...don't forget the part about an insurance rate hike. If you are under 25, that can be substantial. If you are offered traffic school, that will cost you more up front, but will avoid the point and your insurance company from finding out.
Of course, the "worst" consequence I can think of is, after getting the ticket, you are distracted and pull away from the stop in front of an oncoming semi, resulting in a fiery collision...but, that is unnecessarily morbid and likely beyond the intended extent of your question.
