Default How Long Does it Take for a Warrant to Issue After You Run from Probation

I need help locating any factual information about the laws, testimonials, tips, Web addresses, anything that will help me gain further knowledge of the details when someone runs from their probation report. I'm for sure violated, because I just didn't show up. It'll be my 4th violation, but every other time I didn't obscond, so I'm still in the dark a little on that area. My probation was for county 1, but I had moved to county 2 in the same state. How long will it take before they are actively looking for me? Can I go to any state and have full asylum? Someone please help me out here...

First off, what state are you on probation in? Laws vary by state, and policies and practices can sometimes vary widely by jurisdictions within a state.

No one can say how long it WILL take to get a warrant into the system. It COULD take less than a day ... it COULD take months before anyone notices you're gone and bothers to seek a warrant. Ultimately, you WILL be missed if you are on supervised probation.

And, NO, you cannot get "asylum" in another state. In theory you can fight extradition from one state to another, but all that really does is delay the inevitable.

Understand that no one here is going to give you any serious hints on how to remain a fugitive.

Bottom line is if you stop breaking the law and then violating probation, this wouldn't be happening to you.

The state I'm in is Virginia. I wastill charged with a felony after a car accident over 9 years ago. I don't break the law, but I've been on probation for it ever since. The only thing I'm guilty of is using drugs to numb my overwhelming mental anguish, but thanks for your advice.

Seems like you're trying very hard to get jailed. At this point, that might be the best thing for you and society.

Well, apparently you DO. And you don't do very well obeying the terms of your probation either.

I'm sorry you have a jaded and sheltered perception of life, but no, I do not commit felonious crimes. It's illegal to consume drugs because someone else tells us it's wrong. I never steal, forge, kill, or do anything to acquire my drugs. If being a vehicle ACCIDENT that caused a bad outcome means I'm a piece of shit felon, then so be it. I never willingly done anything wrong. Because of the corrupt justice system in America, my life, along with the people I love the most, has been ruined. All because I get high on my own free time. Again, thanks for all the help. I've always turned myself in, and not once time has been any benefit to me. Good luck in you future.

Well, you apparently DID, at least once.

No, because there are laws against it. Just like there are laws about many things.

Seems like you did something illegal, got convicted of it, and now you're blaming the system instead of yourself. Typical sour grapes from someone who doesn't like their punishment. Try prison - you might like it better.

Well, it may not be a felony, but, you have been convicted of a crime or you would not be on probation. And, when you break the rulers placed upon you by the court and Probation, you can be violated and returned to custody. If you do not like the rules, turn yourself in and ask to serve the remainder of your sentence in custody so you can get out without any time left under you.

There are a great many things we cannot do because someone (the state legislature) tells us it is wrong. That's society - ANY society. There are rules.

If being a vehicle ACCIDENT that caused a bad outcome means I'm a piece of shit felon, then so be it.
That depends, was your offense a felony? Even if it was, so what? It doesn't change your legal situation other than meaning the time you could be in jail may be extensive.

I never willingly done anything wrong.
You mean, BESIDES doing drugs and driving impaired causing a crash? Shall I list the number of dead, dying, and injured people I have pulled from twisted wrecks as a result of drugged driving? I once had to tell a friend of mine that one of his daughters was dead and another on her way by helicopter with life threatening injuries because a yo-yo POS high on marijuana slammed into her car head-on killing her, a passenger, and crippling his other daughter.

So, your INTENTIONAL act endangered life and limb and was well deserving of penalties. You are damned lucky if no one died or was injured in your crash. Since you apparently have multiple violations, I am guessing that you have done a piss poor job of avoiding your drug of choice, correct?

Because of the corrupt justice system in America, my life, along with the people I love the most, has been ruined.
No!!!! YOU did this to yourself! You are not a "vicitm" of squat if you drove while high or under the influence and crashed!!!

All because I get high on my own free time.
And put others at risk ...

If you want to get high, knock yourself out! But, stay at home!!!

I am not seeing where the OP actually stated he was driving under the influence at the time of the crash. I am seeing a lot of drug use mentioned, just not where B was directly caused by A.

Was there an edit I missed?

I inferred from his comments that he was using drugs AND he was in an accident. If that was not the case, an "accident" would not generally result in a criminal act that would result in probation. In most states, an at-fault collision means a license suspension and fines, not jail and probation ... unless someone died, or his actions were criminally reckless in which case my condemnation stands.

If, for some reason, he had a fender bender resulting in a ticket, a criminal conviction and probation, I'd have to either suspect he was full of it, or, VA has suddenly gotten drop-down hard ass on traffic offenders to the point of absurdity.

I'm really done with the ignorance I'm witnessing, so this is my last post. Thanks to anyone who defended me. I was NOT high or under the influence during the accident. Anyone who knows anything about being addicted knows that drugs stay in your urine days, sometimes up to a month, after you use them. I had not used any intoxicating substance the day of my accident, but there were drugs in my system from almost almost week prior. No way to argue the point with a public defender and hard-assed prosecutors. I spent 3 years in PRISON, and have been on probation for 9 years, in and out of county jail for violations, all because I had a car accident that killed my fiancé. I was driving, the accident killed her, and I was charged and been punished ever since for something that I've cried myself to sleep over many nights. So, bluntly, **** anyone who is blatantly ignorant to the injustice and corruption that ruins lives.
