I actually have a 1 year old daughter with my husband and yes she shares his last name. I have considered this, however, that is why I kept my last name as my maiden. My son still has the same last name as someone else in his residential home. If his name was completely changed only to his father's surname then there would be three last names in our home. My maiden, my husband's and my son's father's surname. I'm not against hyphenating should it go to court, but I am against taking my surname completely out of the equation.
As has already been said, at this point its unlikely that a judge would change the child's surname against your wishes, and an even greater unlikelihood that your name would be removed entirely.
