Well today I made a stupid choice. i was at a Meijer store and bought a bunch of stuff but also made the mistake of stealing 3 items worth less than $24. I was apprehened by the LP officer and store Manager and taken into their back office. they said if i told them the truth it would all be okay and i did just that.

the LP officer took all my info, gave me a $200 civil demand to be payed within 30 days and said he was giving me a reallly big break. they searched me and told me that his supervisor would make the final decision as to whether or not to prosecute. they have 60 days to send me a notice as to if they Are going to prosecute me. he said if i don't recieve anything in the mail there will be no criminal charges. no police were involved but my picture was taken.

Again, this was my first offence, im 19yrs old, 20 this weekend and all i have is an Impeeding Traffic Violation with No points on my drivers record.

My question is how likely is it that Meijer will prosecute me for $24 worth of stuff. I know what I did was completely wrong and believe me I was scared straight. I was completely honest and cooperative with the LP dective. In fact after i was released and given back my belongings, while driving to school that evening I found an item from the packaging from one of the items i had stolen. I called the LP officer right away and told him i was bringing it back right away.

I am a college student, just started a new job and am trying to get on my feet after just moving here less than a year ago. Any advice? THANKYOU[/FONT]
