My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: TEXAS
Hello,
I have been living with my boyfriend for over 2 years now. We live in a mobile home that is located on his Stepdad's property, and the mobile home's deed is in the name of his deceased grandmother. Neither of us pay rent to his stepdad nor are required to. We are responsible for paying the energy bill, which is in my boyfriend's name. There is not a lease agreement currently, although back in 2016 we created a lease agreement that involved just my boyfriend and I because he would get angry and try to kick me out. The lease agreement stated that I had to pay $75 to his stepdad, pay half of the energy bill, and pay half of the cable costs. I would give my boyfriend the $75 that was supposed to go to his stepdad, and I am not sure if he ever actually gave it to his stepdad because we never had a rent that we had to pay to him. That lease agreement expired 07/2017. He and I are not getting along, and he just gave me written notice that I have three days to vacate the premises and take my belongings with me, and if I don't it will be a lawsuit.
My questions are:
Can he do this to me?
After three days if I do not leave, does he have the legal right to evict me?
