My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan.
I am being charged with strong arm after I called the cops for a domestic on my ex. He left when I called the cops and the cops came after. They came in to get a report and told me since I have been drink they couldn't leave me with my kids without a sober person in the home so I needed to call someone to watch them to leave my home. So I was calling for and no one picked up then they told me they would call cps if I didn't get someone soon.
I went to my room to put more clothes on because I didn't have a bra and was in boxers and intended to close the door on the cop and he put his foot in-between and grabbed my arm at that point I pushed on the door home him and pulled my arm away screaming asking what my charge was because he was telling me to put my hand behind my back and he wouldn't say was I was arrested for . He bruised my arms and my back from the door hitting me and I was charged with strong arma and I'm on a 10,000 bond.
I walked out my house and didnt make it worse so my kids wouldnt wake up. But I feel like the police were wrong when I called for help because I was scared and just to have a cop use excessive force on me and add more trauma to my life. They're saying it's resisting and obstruction combined, but an attorney said "strong arm" is used for a robbery.... So to wait till my court date to see what they change the charge to. I need advise plz!
