My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Michigan
I had a minor outpatient surgery done and the cost of said surgery was almost $5k after insurance. They initially asked for it outright and I told them that I could not pay that and they said they could take $170/month. Again I said I could not afford that amount and they put me on a temporary payment plan of $75/month while they sent me paperwork to fill out for a financial assistance payment plan. I was denied the financial assistance because, on paper, my income is good but I have other finances and other bills from this surgery that I'm trying to pay off as well. If I continue to pay $75/month instead of the $170 can they send me to collections?
