Default Student Loan Refund Check Delays

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Tennessee.
Hi. I'm a college student who started the semester in mid-august this year. It's November 4th and I still haven't received a refund check. The first refund checks were dispersed a couple of weeks ago. I understand TN law states that funds have to be dispersed within 10 days. Their student handbook says they have to be dispersed in 20 days. It's been over 2 months and they said when the check is available it can only be picked up on Friday by 3:30.
Financial Aid is already under federal investigation for something completely different, and if students don't use all of their book voucher (which is their money) they cannot get it back at all. What should I or the student body do? Is it too much to sue? Are their any reasons why I should be more understanding? Is this topic in the right thread. Thanks so much.

Have you asked whomever issued the checks whether they sent one to you a couple of weeks ago and, if so, whether they used the correct address?

They said the check should be available for pickup in a few days, but they've been saying that all semester. They told me this on Friday. From what I can understand, by law they should have it sent within the first 10 days. Am I being overdramatic or should something be done?

When a student has paid the school more than the cost to attend ( through loans, grants, scholaships etc.) the school gives back the left over funds which helps students have money throughout the semester.

Financial aid refunds. Money paid out to the school via student loans and grants that is not necessary to cover tuition and books, and is therefore refunded to the student to help with room and board expenses.

Ya, I got the general reason but when you want dates, the exact sourcenof the funds will allow for a few ddifferent dates to apply

It didn't work that way for my daughter, she always got her refunds at the same time, no matter the source of the funds.

I started looking around when this thread was first I read several variations of refund due dates, depending on the source of funds.

I went school in NY but same thing, they had anticipated refund dates but they would issue refunds until they actually got money from the source and it usually wouldn't be at the same time or the same amount. They'd be at different times for federal loans, grants etc. It sucks but this is the life of a college student waiting on a refund.
