Default Would It Be Appropriate to Bring a Friend to a CPS Meeting for Support

My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: California

A CPS employee is meeting with me today to address allegations of neglect and abuse. Would it be appropriate to have my friend who is a Psychologist and knows my family well attend the meeting as a support? I want to make sure I navigate this system in the best possible way, but could really use some help. Thank you for your help on this.

I have no idea whether or not CPS has rules about third parties being present during interviews. They would have to allow an attorney to be present, but whether they have rules about other people being there is beyond my level of knowledge. However, a psychologist being present, under ordinary circumstances, would not seem to be any kind of hindrance to me.

It would be more appropriate to take a lawyer with you, if you go at all.

CPS has no power over you without a warrant or court order.

CPS relies on fear to get you to "cooperate" and dig your own hole and won't care a whit for what your biased friend has to say.

Don't you understand that you are being accused of crimes? Just like if the police came to your door saying "We want to talk to you about a convenience store robbery."

You invoke your right to a lawyer and remain silent.

I suggest you cancel the visit and talk to a lawyer first.
