My question involves a marriage in the state of: Florida
A friend of mine is in the early stages of divorce. Her husband was the one working, owns his own company and has afforded her a pretty nice lifestyle for the last 5 years. She had learned of infidelity and they have been living "together but separate" since April 2017. She recently filed, and was granted, a temporary protection order for domestic violence, which she has proof of, and is awaiting her court date for a more permanent protection and spousal support order. they have 3 children, a house, 2 nice cars. Since the protection order was filed, he has emptied bank accounts, leaving her with 3 kids and no access to any money for his 3 children. She has no way to pay for legal counsel (he has retained an attorney though) and she is now in the house with three school aged children and no income. Being that it was his business that brought in money, she really has no access to tax returns, company finances, or finance records.
Question is, does she have any recourse for this? This woman was raising his 3 kids, provided everything, and now that she has had enough of him beating her, emptied the bank accounts and left her at the mercy of free legal advice from our county court going up against attorneys and money? What would best plan of action for her be? Her court date for the Temp Support order and Injunction are 10 days away and a divorce will soon follow. What can she do, what should she do, and will she be ok as she is worrying about losing the house and car she uses for her kids. Any help would be greatly appreciated. While I'm glad she's not putting up with his "Hush money" anymore, she could really use the help. Thanks in advance for any help.
