Default Can You Get UI Back Pay if You Let a Prior Application for Benefits Lapse

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of:

So i open a claim for benefits 8 months ago and didn't fallow through with it because someone from work said that i wouldn't receive benefits so didnt even try!
So i reopen my claim 2 weeks ago and started collectioning right after that, Now ive got 8 months with out a job or help and i filed an appeal to get back pay for the past 8 months. What would be the best reason why i did not file for benefits and what should i say to get the back pay? thank you everyone for your help!

Default Re: Backpay of Benifits How to Win My Appeal

You're not going to get back pay. Unemployment doesn't work like that.
