My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Massachusetts
How many hours are allowed, by law (if any), that an employee can work in a day?

There are some limits for minors under the age of 18. Otherwise, there are a few industries that have limits, but in general, there are no limits.
You didnt' ask about breaks, but "The law in Massachusetts states that an employer must provide a thirty-minute meal break during each work shift that lasts more than six hours. This one half-hour meal break is unpaid. In addition, Massachusetts' law does not require employers to provide any rest breaks."
I agree with this but I also would add that an employer should be cognizant of safety issues even if his/her particular industry does not have limits. If an employer pushes an employee to work to the point where safety is impacted, the employer opens themselves up to significant liability.
24. With appropriate breaks as required by state law.
