Can Statutory Rape Charges Be Dismissed if the Minor is Now of Age

My question involves criminal law for the state of: michigan

I am a 16-year old female in Michigan and I am going to have to testify against my ex-boyfriend in a statutory rape case. What happened was consensual and my parents are not pressing charges, the state is. Because I am of age now, is it possible for me to get the charges against him dismissed?

First off, understand that it is not up to you. A criminal case is not Victim (or their parents) vs. the criminal. You do not "press charges." It is society that is harmed by criminal activity. The state is the one that prosecutes the criminal.

There's no out for the victim getting older either. Michigan has extremely long statute of limitations. As long as prosecution has commenced within that period, it will continue.

The fact that you are now of a legal age to consent does not negate what happened when you weren't.
