My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: Mississippi
A few months ago I was in some financial difficulty and decided to go ahead and file chapter 7 bankruptcy. I had a ton of medical bills from an accident and was just completely overwhelm by them. The bankruptcy process was going smooth with my lawyer, and she did a great job, the only thing I was really worried about was the car I had purchased for work because I needed a new vehicle since my other one was wreck in the accident. It's a used car 2014 and I put down 5,000 for it. I was able to make my payments on time and would still be able to with my job so I wanted to keep it.
We received the paperwork from the Car dealership loan holder (rather their lawyers) and it was the same payment nothing had changed. After a couple of months my job downsized and I lost my position, however, I was in school as well finishing up my degree this year. Yet, when the bankruptcy was finally finished I hadn't received any bill for my monthly car payment. In fact its going on now five months. No bill, or phone calls, nothing at all!
I'm trying to figure out what's going on? Because when I look at my credit report, the car isn't even showing up on there. When I try to log in into the loan company and with my account information that's not pulling up anything. At one time, my car was showing up on my credit report before the bankruptcy and afterwards it just disappeared? I'm wondering what's going on, did they forgive the debt?
Should I just let sleeping dogs lie and wait until they possibly contact me? Because so far I've not heard anything from anyone with the car company. If the car is basically just fallen off, what then does that mean as far as a title go? Or if I wanted to trade it in to get a new one? Any help you can give me would greatly be appreciated.
