Hello,
I need some advice. My son and his girlfriend were in an argument because he was speaking with a friend she had forbid him to speak with that he happens to have a class with. One of her friends saw them talking and told her so she sent him a nasty text message and they began to argue. My son ended up breaking up with her by giving her back his ring she gave him and said that maybe they shouldn’t be together if she’s not going to trust him. He left. He ended up going back because he really didn’t want to break up with her and she wouldn’t talk to him. So he grabbed her hood of her sweatshirt as she was walking and she pulled away, he then grabbed her arm so she wouldn’t leave but as he did she hit his arm away and then he “pushed” her around the shoulder/chest area as she was turning around to walk away (according to both of them is wasn’t that hard, she didn’t fall or anything like that). They both went their own ways and she ended up going to her counselor at school because she was upset to talk to her. Well the counselor in turn called the police and he was officially arrested is being detained in juvenile hall for 6 days pending his court date with a charge of Domestic Battery (misdemeanor). We want him released back into our custody on Tuesday (since we can’t do anything for him until then but go and see him, which we will do every day). He is very sorry and remorseful. His girlfriend is completely wrecked. She had NO IDEA that this would happen and has been hysterical for two days saying she’s sorry it got blown way out of proportion she didn’t know he would get in trouble for something that little and now it’s just a huge mess. Her father is the one who is pressing forward and wanting to charge him with everything she saying she wants it all dropped that it was no big deal and she was just really mad at him. All the medical counselors and people we’ve spoken to from juvie say that he’s a good boy who is taking responsibility for what he did and is behaving very well and they are recommending him to be released. In fact the officer that took him to juvie from the medical facility he was at (he had said he wanted to kill himself he felt so bad so they took him there first) called he sergeant asking if she could please bring him home, that this is the most ridiculous thing she’s ever seen and he did not belong in juvie for this incident. He has no violent history or has never been in trouble for fighting. We are very scared and don’t know what to do. Please give any advice if you would please.
Thank you.
