Hello.
I am in the process of applying to a sonography program in Missouri and have been told that a background check will be performed with American Databank which apparently gets its records from the Highway Patrol. In 1988, I successfully completed probation stemming from class C felony theft charge from when I was 18. I was given SIS (Suspended Imposition of Sentence) and was told that the records would be closed after a time and unaccessable to the public. But, from what I see in Missouri Statutes, this may show up when the school perfoms the check. I have two questions, really. Can I lawfully say that I have not been convicted of a felony when asked on a form from the aforementioned company? I used to think I could, but now I wonder. Second, will my record keep me from entering this academic program?
Thanks for any and all information offered ...
