Default Re: What is a Pretriall

A pretrial conference is a hearing at which the parties inform the court of the status of their case and whether it is likely to go to trial, as well as how long they believe a trial will take, and the court schedules future proceedings -- such as a discovery deadline, deadline for motions, deadlines for submission of witness and exhibit lists, a possible settlement conference, and the like.
