## Transportation of Children with Joint Custody

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Michigan

Me and my ex wife have joint custody we both split the time with the children I am curious on who is responsible for transporting them at what time she has grown lazy and has been putting the travel burden on my wife and myself and would like to put this to an end and be equal

Does your order reflect the current distance between both homes?

And if the distance increased, who caused that increase?

Nothing stated in the order and distance has not changed

Then typically the receiving parent picks up. You might want to get that specified.

Or meet halfway.

Agreed.

In the meantime, you can address this pretty easily by telling mom that you want to make sure things are fair, so you will pick up the kids for your time, and expect she will do the same, thus splitting transportation 50/50. Then it's on her to come get the children. Just make sure she gets plenty of advanced notice.

Then if she doesn't, you get bonus time until she gets off the sofa and starts contributing.

That is a bit risky. It might be an ok bluff, but to actually keep the children past the time they are supposed to be returned, puts him in a sticky position.

What does the order say about transportation? If it says nothing, then you have to agree with her or go back and modify it.
