    Default Re: Employment Theft

I would suggest that right now, before your record is tainted, you begin a vigorous job search for something else to do. There are lots of manufacturing, warehouse and retail jobs all over this state at the present time. And if you get one of them, for goodness sake, don't steal from them. It's STUPID beyond stupid and the chances are very low you won't get caught eventually. If not only for the moral reasons, it's just plain life destroying stupid to be a petty thief.

Wal-mart may catch you later, they may come up against you. This is a pretty large loss in the scheme of things, and from the way you talk, you may have stolen more than you even mention here. Dumb, dumb dumb, not to mention dishonest and sorry. But if you are already working somewhere else it might be better for you. If you did not have a criminal record at the time of hire, and you have the money already worked out to pay off this issue without involving your next employer, you MAY end up getting caught without losing your new job. If you are fired from the new job because you are accused of theft by Wal-Mart (firing for a reason not job related to this job) you might qualify for unemployment while it was being sorted out. Fired from Wal-Mart for theft, not a thin chance of unemployment, great chance you'll not work again soon.

Leave now, tell employers you're looking for something different. But if you wait around still working for Wal-Mart and they happen to catch this later and fire you, you'll end up having to find another job anyway, with a "Why did you leave Wal-mart?" issue as big as the solar eclipse even if you're not prosecuted for it. Same if you go to them and confess and offer to pay it off. You're still fired, and there's still a big old issue with your leaving that will mess up your future job prospects.
