My question involves criminal law for the state of: NY
My husband is facing criminal charges for domestic violence and there is currently an order if protection in place. Am I allowed to call and speak to my husband's lawyer with questions I have about what happened at his most recent court date? I am not represented by any lawyer or part of any pending charges.
You could but his lawyer doesn't have to talk to you. You would be better off asking the prosecutor about what happened at court than his lawyer.

I stupidly stayed with my ex husband after he assaulted me and I did talk to his lawyer a couple times and he answered. The judge had placed a protection order for the duration of the case which I asked victim witness to get the judge to drop and eventually he did.

You can do what you want but I seriously recommend you don't stay with your husband if he's abusing you. I have been there. I stayed far too long through too much abuse - physically, financially, emotionally. It's not worth it - especially if you have kids.
