I don't know whether you are thinking that you cannot be fired because the medical leave protects you, or because of the length of time since you stole. Rest assured that neither is true. SOME forms of medical leave protect you from being fired FOR BEING ABSENT FROM WORK but there is no form of leave you can take that will protect you from being fired because you stole. Neither is there any law that says if you haven't been fired after x amount of time the employer is thereafter barred from doing so. You're just going to have to keep on being scared until your employer makes it clear what he's going to do. There's certainly not any law that's going to protect you from being fired. Don't count on unemployment if you are. And, just so you know, your employer is allowed to tell prospective employers why you were fired, despite what you may have heard to the contrary.
DAMN I get so tired of these pathetic thieves who don't have any qualms about taking what doesn't belong to them but then panic at the thought of actually having to suffer any consequences for it or own their own actions.
