In your first post I saw only trespass. However, if the intent was to steal any cigarettes he found, that's burglary. A prosecutor might have a corpus delicti problem (need for evidence other than a confession) if there is no evidence to corroborate the intent to steal, but most likely the entry to the vehicle would overcome that.
Absolutely, entry into the vehicle would overcome that issue.
