Default How to Win More Arguments

Here is a video on how to win more arguments or at least come to mutual understanding. Arguments and disagreements are all too common especially in forums about politics or about law such as this one. So, thoughts? Should the principles of this video be applied to the forum?

If you disagree with somebody, instead of arguing with them ask them to explain their position.

We haven't been arguing with you, and you don't have a position to explain.

You have been expressing a desire to do something that's illegal. That's not a position, that's a desire.

We have been telling you that enacting your desire would be illegal. That's not an argument, that's a fact.

When you come to a forum because you don't know about a legal issue, and ask people who do know about that issue to answer the question, it's not a discussion or a debate or an attempt to persuade. If you choose not to believe the facts, that's you're right, that's on you. But really, no, it's not an argument or a debate, nor is it even a discussion between equals.

    Short answer: No.

Long answer: No, because this is not a debate forum. There are plenty of places to debate political issues, this is not one of them.

To be fair, this video, or at least the principles, should be reiterated to the younger generation. Anything that promotes rational thinking is a good step forward.
