Default Juvenile Charged As Adult in a Murder Case

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Alabama.
The attorney appointed to this juvenile has done nothing to help him. At his waiver hearing he didn't move to suppress a video of the confession, which is the most damning piece of evidence against the child. He was 15 when this happened and, while they DID read him his Miranda rights they left him to believe they were his buddies and could understand him. They did not bring anyone to explain to him what it meant to answer questions after the Miranda rights were read.

At his transfer hearing, his attorney didn't say anything at all. He never said anything about the boy's state of mind at the time of questioning, never objected to anything the prosecutor said. He hasn't been keeping the child updated about what's going on but has told him things that have scared him to death of a trial.

I know that he has a right to counsel and I think the wording even says competent counsel. If the judge refuses to give him other counsel, who would we talk to in order to get something done.

It is clear that they have no interest in learning what caused the incident, they just want to convict & move on.
