Default Is a HOA Responsible for Repair of Interior Damage from Water Intrusion

I own a town home in Utah that has all exterior maintenance performed by HOA. This morning 8 units (attached) were all flooded by a faulty sprinkler head/pipeline. It caused all of us $1,000's of dollars in damages. HOA hires contractors to perform all yard work, snow removal, etc. Is HOA responsible for the interior damages? Are they responsible for any damages to furniture etc? We had to pay$1400 for a disaster clean up crew to come out, we photographed all damages (interior, exterior, assets) what do we do?

Ps: we called the emergency number and sent serval emails to the management that went unanswered. We cleaned up the disaster our selves.

    Disparately-
    8 distraught townhome owners!

My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Utah

Unfortunately I do believe that you will have to file a claim with your homeowners insurance.

I should add the the association did not reply in a timely manner. None of the neighbors knew how to turn off the water line that was causing water to flood into our units. The water supplying the pipes was not associated with the main valve in any of our homes. the valve is managed by HOA and is not located on or in any of our homes. After hours of watching water pour into our homes, my father arrived, luckily he has a lot of property management experience and was able to turn off the water. The damages to our homes and furniture could have been avoided if the HOA would have responded. The disaster clean up crew reported that it was dude to the sprinklers

Was the HOA notified of the faulty sprinkler heads before this incident happened?

Sorry, but the bottom line here is that the HOA is not responsible so make the claim on your homeowners insurance.

    .

The damage to your home and furniture happened the minute the water cut loose from the sprinklers. A delay in turning off the water didn't add much to the damage.

And, by the way, every homeowner should know where and how to turn of any water, gas, or electric supply to the home in case of emergency.

Self preservation is nobody's business but your own.
