Default How Can a Pregnant Child Get Emancipated

I am 16 and pregnant and I need to move out. I don't feel comfortable being at my home, my brother threatens me all of the time and my parents do not care. He has hit me several times in the past and even went as far as to throw lit cigarettes at me. I don't feel safe and my parents won't make him leave. He is 19 and I'm almost positive he is in a gang. He used to (and possibly still does) sell drugs. And he was/is on drugs. My mom works almost every day and my dad leaves me home alone most of the time. I am home schooled and teach myself so I would have no problem with school. I want to move out and stay with the father of my baby, he can take better care of me. And I feel that the baby would be happy. My dad doesn't want the father of my baby anywhere around me or the baby. I need to get emancipated and move out. Is there anyway I can get emancipated before the baby is born in late January?

You are not going to be emancipated ESPECIALLY if you're 16 and pregnant. If you are being abused you need to report it to a counselor or a teacher at school or the police. That's all you can really do.

How old is the boyfriend? You "feel" the baby would be happy? That's great - but babies are happy as long as you feed, bathe and change them. Also taking care of a baby is no easy task - even for adults.

I don't blame your parents for not wanting the father of your child around you. Hopefully the father will be taken to court for child support after the baby is born and the court orders a DNA test to be sure he is the father. The court can order visitation also. But, that does not mean you have to been around the father when he comes to pick up his child for visitation.
