My brain won't leave this alone. I think if I knew anything more about him after he said he got the no contact order I might get some kind of closure and be able to be patient until I learned all of the truth. Can you tell me if it would be acceptable for someone from my family to ask a couple of questions to someone from his family? There would be no contact between him and me. I just need to know how he is and if we will ever talk again.
You need to leave him be, and have a little bit of self respect. Why would you want this person in your life for any reason? Instead of wondering if you will ever talk again, you should consider hoping you never talk to him again.
There could be 652 reasons why he would tell you to stop contacting him. Tell your brain that it's going to get you into serious legal trouble if it doesn't leave this alone.
OP, you are 68 years old. In your 68 years, have you ever been disappointed to find out that someone that you thought was your friend really wasn't? They do something or say something that says leave me alone or they just drift away.
You are obsessed because you feel rejected in some way. You want, no, you demand an explanation that isn't forthcoming. Get over it and move on. It is just that simple.
Just stop. No contact means no contact. Period. Not "no contact except..."
He was probably going to scam you. So count yourself lucky. You don't know what could have happened had you gone out to see him. He may be lying to you 100%. Maybe he's not even on parole. Maybe he made this entire story up. Ever think about that? Maybe he's not even the guy who was convicted.
Just - walk - away. Find some new friends.
